I re-watched the first episode of House yesterday (because now it's summer vaca - all my uni classes are over and I'm freeeeee!), and I always find it fun to compare the pilot and episodes in the later seasons.

To compare the design of the show - the House pilot is a lot more contrasted, with colors that are a bit too much. They use shadows and light a lot. Nothing wrong with it, but they tuned that down later on.

Oh, and I just have to comment - they look a lot younger. Wilson especially, he looks like the Boy Wonder Oncologist. The hair, less lines on his face... he was more on the pretty-side then, now he's handsome. House also looks younger, with far less gray in his hair.

The character of House isn't quite set yet in the pilot. Sure, he has many lines that are congruent with today's House, but IMHO, he seems nicer in the pilot. He connects with the patient, tells her stuff about himself.

Cameron seemed more bitchy in the first episode than she gets to be later on. She pretty much snaps at at least one point. There isn't much point of her character in the pilot (and the scene where she asks why she was hired sounds so whiny). Actress wise, I think she's lost weight since the pilot (not that she needed it. at all.).

Chase is lovely, actually, which is surprising, because I find him very much nothing at all later on (don't hate him, don't love him, I pretty much nothing him until House hits him). He's smart and comes up with a way to check for worms :) He's also terribly cute, and hardly looks dry behind his ears...

Foreman is as blah as ever ^^ Really, I don't like the ducklings much. I did enjoy the House/Cameron of season one, but my real interest has always been House himself, and the House/Wilson friendship. They're interesting and fun and lovely.รถ

Cuddy refers to House as "Doctor House" several times in the episode, which is funny, because I really don't think she does that later on (it's always "HOUSE!!"). She's cooler and more administrator-like in the episode than she gets to be later on - the scene where House is screaming at her and she asks what she's supposed to be scared of, more screaming, is wonderful.

Over all, a lovely pilot. Unlike other some other shows, the characters are very set already and although House gets meaner and Cameron whinier and so on over the course of the seasons that come, they stay in character from moment one.
