I loved it.

I thought this episode was much better than the promos. It had little to nothing to do with Tony being framed - it was just a "shocking" entry to the episode. No one actually suspected Tony.

So, I loved it. It probably has a whole lot to do with me being a Tony-fan, but I did.

Anyway, the episode. The plot was a bit meeh. I didn't really follow all of it - too many people with names that sounded a lot alike and besides, I was mostly sitting there grinning because Tony was mature and competent. And it feels like it was half-ways to forever since the last time that happened.

I did feel that the others should've taken some of the blame for the mistake three years ago. The fact that the case had to build on a mistake at that time was a bit bothersome to me (for Tony to be competent, he first had to be incompetent) - it could easily have been a case they didn't manage to shut at the time instead. A cold case with a new clue popping up would have been just as realistic.

However, I liked that Tony took responsibility about it without whining. It's what a team leader does. He didn't even bother McGee about it - and it really should've been McGee, who's the computer genuis - and that was very nice. McGee and Ziva should both have been feeling at least a little bit bad about the case too.

I'm going back and forth on Gibbs' behavior. On the one hand, I felt a few of his comments were on the mocking side - on the other hand, we had the squee-worthy (for me and other Gibbs/DiNozzo fans, anyway) scene where Gibbs actually told him that he's proud of Tony. He calls Tony Anthony. They call each other Jethro and Anthony through the episode - *squee* *g* I've been waiting for that particular scene since the opening of the fourth season... so it was a long time in coming, but lovely when it finally did. But yeah, in total, I'm gonna take Gibbs' "Boss"-comments as good and respectful, and just to show the rest of the team that he believes in the temporary change.

The scene with Palmer was weird. I didn't get it either. Now that I've read your comments, I'll assume that it is an attempt to mirror the Ducky/Gibbs relationship, but it didn't feel real. It was strange.

A bit more on McGee - he was very strange in this episode. Cold and callous when they were at the scene where the body had been dumped. I'd have expected that of Tony, Ziva and probably Ducky with some sort of story attached to it, but not from McGee. And then he had a very hard time listening to Tony, with the obvious show of going to Gibbs when they were in the house where the woman almost torched her husband (wacko wife, anyway). There were a few Tony/Tim moments though and I enjoyed those. ^^

Ziva was barely there, so not much comment on her. She seemed to listen more to Tony than McGee.

Abby... annoyed me, but not too much - because Tony did manage to shut her up. If he hadn't, I would have been much more annoyed with her than I was.

The one thing I reflected upon once the episode was nearing its end was that although it was a completely Tony-centric episode, we still don't know anything more about him. Every time we have a Gibbs-centric episode, we get to know more about his past and his demons - but with Tony, we got to see his insecurity and his ability to act responsibly, but we still don't get even the slightest hint at his past. I'm curious to see, if we get more character-centric episodes with the other team members, will they be episodes like this, or will they actually go into the characters themselves? As I've said before, we still know hardly anything about Abby.

Okay, to round things up - I loved the episode. Lots of squeeing going on, and lots of material for slashy fanfic. Now, let's just keep competent!DiNozzo in the upcoming episodes, so that we don't have to suffer through fool!DiNozzo anymore. I've had more than enough of him.
