So not looking forward to the new NCIS season...

I guess I had forgotten (read: repressed) how much of NCIS was about Tony/Ziva. Then I watched the ET online interview thing, where Sean Murray and Mark Harmon barely got to say anything, because pretty much all the questions were to Cote dePablo (and Michael Weatherly) about Ziva, and Tony/Ziva.

I. Don't. Care.

Not about Ziva, and most certainly not about Tony/Ziva. Everything is about that. I guess it's something that they admit that it's not the least bit subtle anymore.

Beyond that, CdP and the others are getting on my nerves for talking about how fantastic the show was last season, and how fantastic it's going to be now - because if they think last year was fantastic, then... ugh. There were a couple of good episodes, a few that made sense and had good characterization, but the rest was various degrees of crap.

Just kill her off (they're apparently very good at shocking people with killing characters off - never mind that Kate's was the only really shocking one, whereas Jenny's was of necessity because they'd written her into such a corner and most people hated her, and Agent Lee had also been written into a corner that would've been very messy to get out of).

Sigh.

I am terrified of the new season. NCIS is my favorite show, and I'm so afraid that they are going to ruin it. Tony and Ziva have no chemistry at all. Tim was a jerk last year. These are two examples of the "fantastic" season last year that I can do without.

Imo, they pretty much ruined it last season. Now it's just a matter of seeing if they can get back from the depths of crappiness they were in then, or not. Like you say, jerk!Tim and Tony/Ziva everywhere were just two of the things that was wrong with the show last season.

I think what they don't realise right now is that many fans endured Season 6 because they remember a time when the show was great and not about Tony/Ziva, and they were (and still are) hoping it will get there again. And if it doesn't... they WILL lose their audience. Many people didn't start watching NCIS for the soap opera that is currently going on, and if they don't get their act together again people will stop.

I certainly will. I've had enough of it with Season 6.

What I DID see in that interview though was that MW was NOT very keen on the whole Tony/Ziva shebang. Thank God for small favors. Maybe they'll start listening to their actors again at one point, much as CdP seems to dig the whole Tony/Ziva thing. MW obviously doesn't.

MW has stated over and over again that he's not interested in seeing any romance on the show (unless they wanted to make Gibbs bi-curious ;-). Notice how he spent the whole ET leaning away from CdP while she spent half the time pawing him?

I did notice that, which is why I put Michael within parenthesis above; all the questions were directed to him and CdP, though CdP seemed the most eager to answer them and pawn over MW...

I watched the online version once without the sound. Very, very disturbing to watch their body language and expressions.

I know I keep watching for that reason - it's been so great before. There've always been irritating elements, but not like season 6, where we suddenly got rude!McGee, stupider-than-stupid!Tony, who-knows-why-she's-there!Ziva, distant!Gibbs and awful Tony/Ziva.

I certainly hope they start listeing to parts of their cast. CdP seems to like T/Z a whole lot, but I agree with you - MW didn't seem all that thrilled with the plot and not with CdP hanging all over him either, to be honest

I hear you. Sigh. I've gotten to the point where it's not just the idea of a Tony/Ziva romance that pisses me off - it's ANYTHING to do with them. I don't care if they've had a big argument, or he killed her boyfriend, or she sekritly loves him, or they both hate each other or what. I just don't care! It's not what the show is about and never has been. Except now it is. ALL The Time. Every single promo, every single interview, every single spoiler...it's Tiva this or "Tony/Ziva" that. Do they like each other, do they flirt, do they hate each other, will he rescue her, will she comes back....etc etc etc. Ad infinitem!

I DON'T CARE! I just want the show back. And I don't think we'll get it to be honest. I'm fairly convinced I won't be watching for much longer. I'll give S7 a try just to see if they pull it back but it stopped being the show I fell in love with somewhere during S6.

I hope this doesn't affect your Gibbs/Dinozzo fiction muse!!! I re-read the ones you've already written on a rotating basis and am looking forward to many more!!! (hope, hope)

Thank you!

I think it has affected it a bit to be honest :-(. But let's see what they do in S7.

I know I'm feeling wholly uninspired since the last few episodes last season *sigh*

I guess I'd just forgotten about how much T/Z we got back around the season finale. It's been fairly quiet over the summer, at least. Now it's back in full, horrible swing... and I wouldn't mind it so much if it were a hint - like it's always been before. But like you say, now it's everywhere. Promos, interviews, *magazine covers*, spoilers, blah, blah, blah.

We're definitely in full agreement. I'll watch the show for a while, but it continues in this craptastic way, then I just won't bother.

I agree with everything already said. I hope that they do not make this season Tony/Ziva heavy.... Here's hoping...

[identity profile] bananacosmic.livejournal.com 2009-09-18 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Safe to say they'll lose their audience if they keep pushing T/Z on us...

[identity profile] tomsmum.livejournal.com 2009-09-18 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
I hear you - Really one-sided interview. Though I think they have to say that the last season was good 'cos its teir job!

[identity profile] bananacosmic.livejournal.com 2009-09-18 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they have to say that, just like the Bones cast have to say that their show is still great despite it being awful ^^ Doesn't help, though. I'm not sure why MH and SM were even there - they barely got a word in.
