Well, like others have said - I didn't hate it. But I can't say that I loved it either.
We were beat over the head with "dog fighting is bad", which just got annoying after a while. I liked the dogs, and I liked the dog talker (I guess he's a celeb in the US; me, I've never heard of him before, but he was really really good). But when the grad student came on, I just got the feeling that he was guilty immediately - mostly because they were overly obvious with the whole suture thing.
Booth told Brennan what to do throughout. "Don't play with the dog" and "Talk from your heart" were the ones that really annoyed me. I wouldn't be surprised if he started telling her what to wear, what to say and where to go soon... It's just irritating. However, he was less goofy than usual. The interactions about his son with Sweets were stupid - he's supposed to be good with people, why not with his son? Booth's own scenes with his son were nice and natural though.
Brennan was OOC with her emotional attachment and being so for animal rights. She has a hunting license! (Though I'll assume not anymore, if ED has her way).
TJ was fantastic in this episode. I'm not a bigger fan of his usually than of anyone else, but in this episode he was just so much better than everyone else (except Cam and Angela - they were both only in like one or two scenes each, so I couldn't really judge their performances...). His general hatred towards everything was very well done, in a way that allowed the viewer to see that he was really hurting.
Jack's scene with the intern was my favorite. Lovely, well-played and just fantastic. The intern over all was great, and I wish Michael could have continued on for a few episodes. However, it's amazing that anyone seems to be able to do Brennan's job these days.
The session with Sweets and Jack was the first time I haven't wanted to strangle Sweets this season, although he is such a bad therapist, it's ridiculous. And he must have specialized in every are of psychology there is, as previously concluded. *sigh* Other than that, he was his usual annoying self, and Jack's words about "It's not finding you - it's avoiding you that's hard" (something like that) were perfect.
And the poor murder victim got far less attention than the dogs, which was a bit weird.
Over all, a better episode than the others this season, but not really all that great, IMHO.
